If you want to travel from Greece to Albania, you have to take a bus. There is no passenger railway connection available between Greece and Albania.
There are direct buses on the route from Thessaloniki (Greece) to Tirana (Albania). Thessaloniki is connected to the railway network of Greece and as well to international destinations.
If you want to travel from Greece to Bulgaria by train, buy your train ticket locally at the train station in Thessaloniki. There are no online tickets available.
There are two rail connections between Greece and Bulgaria, however only the line from Thessaloniki to Sofia via the Strimon/Kulata border crossing is open at the moment.
To travel from Greece to India, there is no rail connection available. We recommend to book a direct flight via the given booking link. Train tickets in India are available via 12go.asia.
To travel from Greece to Italy, you have to take the ferries of Minoan Lines or Superfast Ferries. These run from Patras via Igoumenitsa to Bari, Ancona, Trieste and Venice. All ferry ports except Igoumenitsa have railway connections.
Patras is located on the Peloponnes and has a railway connection from Athens. However, on the last part of the line between Kiato and Patras currently a replacement bus service is operating. Igoumenitsa is located in the north of Greece and has bus connections from Kalambaka and Thessaloniki.
From Bari and Ancona you will find frequent train connections along the Adriatic coast and across Italy to cities such as Rome, Naples, Florence, Bologna and Milan.
Buy your train tickets from Greece to Macedonia locally at a station. There is only one railway line across the border, running from Thessaloniki to Skopje. The night train from Thessaloniki via Skopje to Belgrade is the only train running across the border.
An alternative way to travel between the two countries is to travel by train to Florina, then cross the border with a taxi and continue from Bitola in Macedonia by train to Skopje.
If you want to travel from Greece to Serbia by train, buy your train ticket locally at a train station in Greece.
There is one direct night train available from Thessaloniki (Greece) via Skopje (Macedonia) to Belgrade (Serbia). If this night train does not run, you have to travel from Thessaloniki (Greece) via Sofia (Bulgaria) to Belgrade (Serbia).
To travel from Greece to Turkey, you have to use a bus. There is no direct train anymore. A train connection could be via Sofia (Bulgaria), but takes a lot more of time than by bus.
