The "Château de l'Empéri" is an important attraction of Salon-de-Provence. It was built between the 9th and 13th centuries and was a residence of the Archbishops of Arles and the Holy Roman Emperor. Today, the "Château de l'Empéri" is a museum. Be sure to visit the courtyard! The "Tour de l'Horloge" was built in the 17th century. In 1664 the work was completed with the addition of the bell tower. The "Porte de l'Horloge" (which name came from the "Tour de l'Horloge") represents the transition from the old to the new town. "Porte de l'Horloge" has been restored in 2003. Now you see on the southern side a weekly calendar and on the northern side a clock with the moon cycles. Since 1926 the "Tour de l'Horloge" is classified as a "Monument historique".
