Moss Fountain

Mousse Fontaine

The moss fountain is a landmark of the city. The fountain exists since the 16th century. Due to the limestone deposits of wells, it is completely covered with moss.

Château de l'Empéri

The "Château de l'Empéri" is an important attraction of Salon-de-Provence. It was built between the 9th and 13th centuries and was a residence of the Archbishops of Arles and the Holy Roman Emperor. Today, the "Château de l'Empéri" is a museum. Be sure to visit the courtyard! Church Saint-Michel

Église Saint-Michel

The Catholic Church "Saint-Michel" was built in the 13th century and is located below the "Château de l'Empéri". In the 15th century a tower was added, which served the next two centuries as a clock tower. Since 1983, the church is classified as a "Monument historique".

Tour de l'Horloge

The "Tour de l'Horloge" was built in the 17th century. In 1664 the work was completed with the addition of the bell tower. The "Porte de l'Horloge" (which name came from the "Tour de l'Horloge") represents the transition from the old to the new town. "Porte de l'Horloge" has been restored in 2003. Now you see on the southern side a weekly calendar and on the northern side a clock with the moon cycles. Since 1926 the "Tour de l'Horloge" is classified as a "Monument historique".

City Hall

Hôtel de Ville

The Town Hall of Salon-de-Provence was built 1655-1658 in the classical style. The two statues on the facade symbolize temperance and caution. The town hall is open Monday-Friday from 08:00 to 12:15 h and from 13:30 to 17:00 h. On the town square there is the "Adam-de-Craponne-Fountain", which previously ensured the regional water supply.
