The Loch Lomond Youth Hostel belongs to the official SYHA (Scottish Youth Hostels Association) and is located in the Trossachs National Park at Loch Lomond , one of the most famous lochs (lake) in Scotland. In fact, the hostel is like an old castle and is located about 500m away from the shore on a little hill. If you're lucky you can get a bed in a dorm with the stunning view over the lake until Ben Nevis! The hostel retains many original features like wooden halls, carpets on the floors, huge pillars and in front of the hostel are ancient fountains. Furthermore, there is a BIG self catering kitchen and a nice dining hall close to it. If you are planning to do self catering, think about bringing food along as there is no supermarket nearby! (though you can buy a pack of milk and other stuff at the front entrance). The closest 'shopping' possibility is at Balloch. As this hostel belongs to the official SYHA it is a bit expensive but therefore you can have an exclusive-like accommodation and enjoy your stay at Loch Lomond. Consider that the hostel closes during midday and you can not check-in during that time.
