The Castel Sant'Angelo is a mausoleum, which was built for the Roman Emperor Hadrian and his successors. It was later used by the popes as a fortress because of its good location on the right bank of the Tiber.
Today a museum can be visited in the Castel Sant'Angelo. In addition,you have a spectacular view of Rome from the platform!
Exit subway station Lepanto, then another 15 minutes walk.
