The "Cathédrale St. Michel et Gudule" is one of the most famous sights of Brussels.
It was built in the Gothic style and is the headquarter of the archbishop of Malines-Brussels.
The construction of the church started in 1226 and was completed at the end of the 15th century.
In 1962, the church was the Episcopal center and so was given the title of a cathedral.
In the cathedral takes place important official events, such as state funerals and royal weddings.
It is recommended to visit the Cathedral also from the inside.
In particular, the glass paintings of the choir windows, some of which date from the 16th century, the apostle statues and the pulpit from 1669, are worth seeing.
The "Cathédrale St. Michel et Gudule" is located at the Treurenberg, within walking distance from the train station "Gare Centrale".
Opening times:
Monday-Friday from 07:00 to 18:00 h
Saturdays from 08:30 to 18:00 h (visits only from 08:30 to 15:30 h)
Sundays from 08:30 to 18:00 h (tours only available after 14:00 h)
