The 1934-1936 created Maschsee in the Leinemasch is a popular tourist destination. You can walk to it from the railway station.
Maschpark
The Maschpark was created around 1900 together with the construction of the New Town Hall. Center of the park is an artificial pond. The Maschpark is the link between downtown and the Leineaue.

Eilenriede
The Eilenriede is the city forest in Hanover. Here you can also take a great bike ride. This is by the way the most important city forest in Europe.
