1b Travelling from Skopje (Macedonia) to Belgrade (Serbia)

Travel from Macedonia to Serbia is possible by the overnight train from Thessaloniki via Skopje (North Macedonia) and Niš (Serbia) to Belgrade. But it is not sure if this train will run in the summer months or not. Other train connections are currently not available.
Buy the train ticket at a railway station.

If not train connection is available, you have to travel by bus.

1c Travelling from Belgrade (Serbia) to Budapest (Hungary)

The train connection from Belgrade to Budapest is currently only possible with two changes. The line has been under renovation since 2019 and should be fully operational again from 2026. So far, direct trains have taken around six hours to cover the 350-kilometre route. In 2026, the journey time should be reduced to 2 hours and 40 minutes, with a possible speed of 200 km/h.

Your train departs from "Beograd Centar" station. It continues to Novi Sad. You have to change trains in Subotica and Szeged and then arrive at "Budapest Nyugati" railway station.

You have to buy the following tickets:

#1 From Belgrade to Subotica, the ticket costs 15 EUR. You can buy it on the Serbian Railways website. At the moment it is only in Serbian language, but you can understand it. Otherwise, buy the ticket at the station.

#2 From Subotica to Budapest with the Hungarian railway MAV. If you buy one train ticket, it costs 26 EUR. If you buy two train tickets, it is cheaper. First from Subotica to Szeged from 5 EUR. Then from Szeged to Budapest from 6 EUR.

There are currently three train connections per day with departure from Belgrade at 05:00h, 11:00h and 14:00h. Arrival in Budapest is at 12:10h, 18:10h and 21:10h. You can find the exact timetables on the websites of the Serbian and Hungarian railways.

1d Travelling from Budapest (Hungary) to Berlin (Germany)

Travel from Budapest to Berlin by train. Train tickets start from 29 EUR. A comfortable overnight train is available. The journey time by the direct day train is 11 hours.

The night train offers as cheapest category seats from 29 EUR. More comfortable is a berth in compartments for 4 or 6 persons. Or a sleeper compartment which you can book for one to three persons. The departure time in Budapest is 19:30. The arrival time in Berlin is 09:15.

Train ticket fares for the direct day train start from 46,90 EUR. The departure time in Budapest is 07:40. The arrival time in Berlin is 18:40.

1e Travelling from Berlin (Germany) to Vordingborg (Denmark)

To travel from Germany to Denmark by train, use one of the daily connections which usually runs via Hamburg.

If you want to include a night train, there is currently only one option left: in the summer months there is one IC train travelling overnight from Hamburg (Germany) to Copenhagen (Denmark).

In 2021 a new night-train-line will run from Berlin via Hamburg and Copenhagen to Stockholm.
