To travel by train from Russia to Finland, you have these two options:

1) the direct day train "Allegro" from St.Petersburg to Helsinki. There are 5 trains per day on this route. The journey time is about 3,5 hours. Tickets are available from 70 EUR.

2) the direct overnight train "Tolstoi" from Moscow to Helsinki. The journey time is about 15,5 hours. tickets are available from 180 EUR.

Moscow, St.Petersburg and Helsinki are well connected to their national railway network, also by long-distance overnight trains..

To travel by ferry from Helsinki to Stockholm, book a direct overnight ferry. The daily departure time in Helsinki is in the late afternoon. The arrival in Stockholm in the morning. The journey time is about 17 hours. The ticket price starts from 85 Euro.

If you want to travel by a cheaper ferry or during the day (not overnight), you have to take a ferry route from Turku to Stockholm.

2d Travelling from Kemi (Finland) to Luleå (Sweden)

Travel from Kemi (Finland) to Luleå (Sweden) by a combination of train and bus. The journey time is three hours. The ticket fare is 26 EUR.

From Kemi railway station use a bus via Tornio to Haparanda. The ticket price is 6 EUR. Buy your ticket at the bus driver or on the website of Matkahuolto. The departure station is: Kemi railway station. The arrival station is: Haparanda-Tornio [NB. Finnish time].

In Haparanda change to the train to Luleå operated by "Norrtåg". The journey time is 1:50 hours. The train ticket fare is 200 SEK (20 EUR).

2e Travelling from Luleå (Sweden) to Narvik (Norway)

To travel from Sweden to Norway by train, there are three main routes available. In the south from Gothenburg (Sweden) in direction of Oslo (Norway). In the middle from Östersund (Sweden) to Trondheim (Norway). And in the north from Stockholm or Lulea (Sweden) via Kiruna and Abisko (Sweden) to Narvik (Norway).

Both countries offer very good night train connections to travel long-distance. The railway network in the North of Norway is not connected between Narvik and Fauske/Bodø. You have to take the bus for this part.
