To travel from France to Germany by train, use a route either via Paris/Lille to Cologne by Thalys train. Or from Paris via Strasbourg/Saarbrücken to Frankfurt or Stuttgart by TGV/ICE. The train journey from Germany to Austria is inexpensive with many daily ICE and Railjet connections. There are saver fares ("Sparpreis Europa") available from Deutsche Bahn from 18 EUR.
On longer distances we recommend a Nightjet night train. These offer you comfortable overnight travel in a seating, couchette or sleeping car. Tickets for the Nightjet start from 29 EUR. In the sleeping car from as little as 69 EUR.

To travel from Hungary to Romania by train, buy your train tickets from Hungarian railway MAV START. They offer a variety of discounts for one way and return journeys as well as the cheap advance fare "Fortuna" tickets. Online tickets from MAV START have to be printed from ticket machines at stations in Hungary! Of course you can buy all tickets at international ticket desks at stations in Hungary as well.
International services run mainly from Budapest via the Lököshaza/Curtici border crossing to Arad and from there either to Timisoara and onwards to Craiova and Bucharest or via Simeria - Sibiu/Sighisoara - Brasov to Bucharest. Additional international express trains run via the Biharkresztes/Episcopia Bihor border crossing to Oradea - Cluj Napoca - Brasov.
