The railway station of Lào Cai (Vietnam): Ga Lào Cai. The (night) trains coming from Hanoi end here. To continue your travel to SaPa, just leave the train, cross the station and in front of it you will find plenty of mini-buses. The mini-bus (about 9-10 persons) costs 50.000 Dong or USD 3. Journey time is 45 minutes. Also available is a public bus for 18.000 Dong which runs every hour. Train tickets to Hanoi (and other places in Vietnam) are available in the window at one of the official ticket windows. If you booked a special tourist train, exchange your voucher to your ticket in the hall left hand (seen from the place in front of the station) of the main waiting room. This hall is nearly empty, but you get your ticket there. Opens about one hour before train departure. If you bought your ticket in SaPa and want to exchange it to your ticket, it is usually made in a restaurant, right hand side of main waiting room (the mini-bus driver will tell you).
