Validity:
Interrail is valid on all trains of ZFBH (State Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina) and ZRS (State Railways of Republika Srpska).
For more information about train companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina click here.
Reservation and supplement:
Day trains: All trains can be used without a reservation.
For more information about reservations in Bosnia and Herzegovina click here.
Night trains: No night trains run in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Good to know:
Railway operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is split between ZFBH and ZRS, each of them being responsible for one of the two autonomous parts of the country. There are just a few lines, the main lines running from Sarajevo via Banja Luka to Zagreb (Croatia) and via Mostar to Capljina at the Croatian border, close to Ploce on the Adriatic.
Apart from the daily train from Sarajevo to Zagreb no other international trains run to the country. If you want to get to Belgrade (Serbia), Podgorica (Montenegr🧐 or Dubrovnik and Split (Croatia) you have to go by bus (not included in Interrail).
Although the timetables of the main lines are included in our schedule planner or the Interrail app, we recommend to check timings locally or use the websites of ZFBH and ZRS.
