Good to know:
The railway network in Ireland is not very dense. The main lines connect Dublin on the east coast with larger cities in the western part of the country such as Sligo, Galway and Cork. The main line on the east coast connects Dublin with the capital of Northern Ireland, Belfast. There are just a few other lines with a sparse service. Especially to explore the west coast you need to use buses which are not included in Eurail.
Timetables are available in our schedule planner or the Eurail app which include all trains and timings. You can also check on the national schedule planner.
To get to Ireland you have to use a ferry. The cheapest and fastest option is usually the route from Holyhead to Dublin, running frequently day and night. Other lines include Belfast – Cairnryan, Dublin – Liverpool, Rosslare – Fishguard and Rosslare – Cherbourg.
