The Jenzig is one of the "mountains" around Jena. You can hike there within 20 minutes from the tram stop Jena-Ost. On the Jenzig there is also a tourist restaurant. Very nice especially in the summer months as you can sit outside. You have a wonderful view of Jena.

The restaurant is located in the city district "Wenigenjena". You can walk or drive by bus (line 14) directly to the restaurant. From the restaurant you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view.

Inaugurated in 1972, renovated in 1999/2000, re-opened in 2001. The building height is published varies. Sometimes it is 145 m, in other publications 159 m. The observation deck is located at an altitude of 128 m. The tower is the tallest office building in East Germany and as well the tallest one (again, I found different statements) At the 28th Floor you will find the exclusive restaurant "Scala". The restaurant I've never tried, but the outlook is terrific. *** Opening times *** Restaurant & viewing platform daily from 11:00 h to 00:00 h *** Entrance fee *** 3,50 EUR Note: Currently the so-called "Scala-Card" is offered by "Jena-Information". It costs 8 EUR and includes the 3 EUR entrance fee for the ride up by the elevator and the beautiful view. And a voucher for the restaurant of 5 EUR (currently had no opportunity to test it).
