From Sintra it is on the EN 247 about 15 km to the rocky cape Cabo da Roca, the most western point of the European continent. What we did not know at this time: it is not necessary to have a car to get there. From Sintra railway station there are buses every hour. Updated May 2013: Also from (bus)station Cascais you can easily get to the Cabo da Roca. The Cabo da Roca (northern Tagus estuary) is more touristy developed than that the Cabo Espichel (southern Tagus estuary). There is also a small café, unfortunately without outdoor terrace.
