I am looking for the most direct way to get from Caldas Da Rainha to Cascais using public transportation. I would rather not return to Lisbon, if possible. I was wondering if it I can get to Sintra directly and then take the bus? Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you

There are local trains which connect Caldas Da Rainha [u]https://rail.cc/en/caldas-da-rainha/caldas-da-rainha-railway-station/l6091[/u] and Cascais [u]https://rail.cc/en/cascais/cascais-railway-station/l785[/u] . With changes and it takes about 3:30 hours. Train are tickets available locally at ticket machines (English interface available) for about Euro 10,60. For schedules go on [ux]https://rail.shop/cp[/ux] (Portuguese railways) and select the green button "train times".
Of course there are other mixes possible including buses, etc. But I think it is the most comfortable journey doing like explained above. As you only have to change local trains at smaller stations. It\'s easy and you see a bit of local life.
There is usually one change in Alcantara from station "Alcantara-Terra" to station "Alcantara-Mar" which you have to walk. The walking time is about 10 minutes. Leave "Alcantara-Terra" main building to the left and walk about 500 meters straight on (you see a big bridge "Ponte 25 de Abril" over the city in your walking direction). You arrive at an intersection where you take the underpass with escalator - and there you are at "Alcantara-Mar". Easy to do as well by suitcase as it is a good side walk.
And never hurry: if you miss the given connection at "Alcantara-Mar", there are direct trains going every 15 minutes from "Alcantara-Mar" to Cascais.
