hello,
So i'm gonna be in luxembourg for one night on the 12th nov. from there i want to train it up to hamburg. ive been looking at the DB site as well as the CFL site for train info. i'm pretty keen to make it a night trip so i arrive in hamburg early morning on the 13th. the thing is, i dont get these trains! can i just hop on them with my interrail pass or i need reservations?! if i take an ICE train i need a reservation - but then i got to reserve and it says reservations without ticket are not possible. there is one option where i can take an RE, RB and IC train. would those trains be fine to just hop onto? it doesnt say anything about reservations!

Hi Kassy.
ICE trains are free of supplements with an InterRail pass. But a reservation is recommended if you travel in peak times (Friday afternoon and Sunday evening).
Don't pay attention to the information what you found on the websites you mentioned. InterRail is something special, not a normal ticket. ;)
Always do it this way:
