Hi,

a travel agency in Istanbul just told me, that the Train Company plans to open the railways Istanbul-Ankara in August, but hasn´t given any certain date.
So you still have to take a bus - until further notice.

In spite of all these little problems on the route from Germany to Iran I´m looking forward to our trip!

Hej Karin, thanks for the update.
Given the current bus replacements on both sides of Istanbul as well as in Bulgaria it will probably be only possible to travel all the way by rail in 2015... :|

I almost confirmed this through tourista. Allthough fingers crossed, train might be going from Pendik (25 km outside Istanbul) to Ankara and back. Testing is currently being done. So if this opens end may it would be great :) .
