[ux]https://rail.shop/mav[/ux]

First by direct day train from Berlin to Budapest. Buy your ticket here, where you also find schedules and ticket prices: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]

Then from Budapest to Bucharest by night train. Buy your ticket here - pick up at a ticket machine in the station of Budapest, which is very easy. [ux]https://rail.shop/mav[/ux]

From Bucharest you continue by overnight train to Istanbul. Train tickets are available at the station. Ticket is Euro 41 plus type of accommodation: couchette (4) = Euro 14
Read here: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/bucharest-istanbul-bosfor/134 and [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/bucharest-sofia-istanbul-train/[/ux]

In Turkey first from Istanbul to Ankara. Tickets here: [ux]https://rail.shop/tcdd[/ux]
Then from Ankara either by bus to Tehran, as the direct train sadly was withdrawn. Or travel by "Vangölü Express" on Tuesday or Sunday (twice a week) from Ankara to Tatvan. Tickets from Euro 10 available here: [ux]https://rail.shop/tcdd[/ux]
From Tatvan cross the lake to Van.
