Hello,
I am a french student who is going to do an internship in Munich, my girlfriend will do an Erasmus in Bamberg.
We want to live half way from these cities, so in Nuremberg.
We know that the trip is around one hour long, it is okay for us.
The question is : are the train to these destinations on time ? We heard that German train punctuality is quite bad, like 60-70 % of train are delayed, deleted or stops a few stations before.
That\'s why we want to know if the trains in this area will often be late or if they are usually on time.

Hi Nicholas,
punctuality in Germany isn\'t great, but it itsn\'t much better or worse than in other European countries. Expect about the same amount of delays as you would get with SNCF (maybe not quite to many strikes).
Some statistics: Regional trains ("TER") in Bavaria have a punctuality (on time, or less than 5 minutes delayed) of 93%: [ux]https://beg.bahnland-bayern.de/de/aktuelles/jahrespuenktlichkeit-2017[/ux]

I hope this helps to give you a realistic picture. Overall, it doesn\'t sound like an unreasonable plan for the two of you to live in Nürnberg and commute to Munich and Bamberg. Rent should be a bit cheaper in Nürnberg, too (Munich is a very expensive place to live).
