Hello folks!
I plan to start ,y first interrail-trip very soon and was thinking about visiting a friend in Kiev on my route. But what would be the best way to get there? I know that I will have to buy a extra ticket for the Ukraine. But from where can I start? I will also visit Istanbul, so would it be best to go from there all the Way North to catch the Berlin-Kiev train somewhere in Poland or is there a better Route? I could only find a 30h lasting Route from Bucharest.. :o

Hi.
The shortest route is definitely by train from [b]Bucuresti[/b] (Romania) to [b]Kiev[/b] (Ukraine).
Especially if you are coming from Istanbul, you have to travel via Sofia, then to Bucharest .
There are two possibilities:
(1) if coming from Sofia, take the night train D 60KJ which starts in Sofia, going via Bucharest to Kiev (final destination).
Dep. Sofia: 19:30h
Arr. Kiev 09:29h (+2 days)

(2) starting in Bucharest 19:57h with night train with change in the morning at Chisinau (08:52h), arriving in Kiev at 02:04h at night.
For the ticket price calculate starting in Bucharest, destination Kiev:
2nd class: EUR 35 one way
1st class: EUR 60 one way
Plus the usual supplements for a 4bed cabin (EUR 15) or a 2bed cabin (EUR 35) for Eastern Europe.
As you will travel the half of your route in Romania, ask in Bucharest station for a ticket starting from the Romanian border to Kiev - they will understand it. But take some time with you (at least 30 minutes to get the ticket then if you have bad luck).

Hi,
Have the prices changed considerably for this route? Booking through here shows a one way journey of EUR 130 second class one way. Myself and my wife are looking to travel at the end of April for a few days in Kiev, but at those prices I am afraid we won't be able to afford it.
Hope you have a trick for booking them!

If you buy the ticket locally in Bucharest, it will be cheaper than online (due to handling fees - [ux]https://rail.shop/realrussia[/ux]).
