Me and my friend are travelling around Europe for a 3/4 months this year and we have most of out trip planned as we're interrailing. We're going to Morocco after Spain and then was hoping to get to Italy, I've seen you can get Ferries to Italy such as Tangier to Genoa. Has anyone gone on this ferry before? Or would it make more sense to just fly to Italy? Do we need to book the ferry in advance? Any feedback/advice at all would be much appreciated.

Thanks James

i'm getting slightly concerned by the lack of response for this post, has no one been on this ferry?

Hi,

according to my Thomas Cook timetable the Tanger - Genova ferries run via Barcelona, so it might make sense to only pass the strait of Gibraltar by ferry and start from there by train (Algeciras).

Travel time ferry is ~48 hours compared with only ~28h for the fastest train connection Algeciras - Genova, ferry not included.
