The Glacier Express probably is the most famous of the Swiss panoramic trains. The "World's slowest express train" runs from Zermatt at the foot of Matterhorn via Brig, Andermatt, Oberalppass, Chur and the Albula Railway to St. Moritz in Graubünden and is operated by MGB and RhB in cooperation. The modern panoramic cars offer breathtaking views of Swiss glaciers, mountains and rivers. Freshly prepared meals from the restaurant car are served at your seat. Besides the Glacier Express services there are also hourly regional trains running on all parts of the route which do not require reservations.

Glacier Express trains consist of modern air-conditioned coaches with large panoramic windows. You can relax in the comfortable seats and enjoy the breathtaking scenery as well as freshly prepared menus from the restaurant car. The trains can be used with regular national and international tickets, however a seat reservation is compulsory. The reservation is available either at stations or online from RhB. Interrail passes are valid only on the part of the route managed by RhB from Disentis/Mustér to St. Moritz, for the part operated by MGB you have to buy a separate ticket. For Youth Pass holders MGB offers a 50% discount. Eurail and Swiss Passes cover the whole route and you only need to buy the extra reservation.

Besides the Glacier Express there are also regular stopping trains operating on all parts of the route, which can be used without a reservation. They consist of regular coaches with windows that can be opened (as opposed to the fixed windows of the Glacier Express trains). If you want to travel with these regional trains you will have to change trains in Brig, Andermatt, Disentis/Mustér and either in Reichenau-Tamins or Chur.
