Hello, I am traveling from Paris to Bayeux later in April. When I attempt to make a reservation in Eurail reservations it tells me that no reservations are available for the intercites train I am trying to take. However, if I go to SNCF I can clearly make a reservation for the selected train. Will I be fine getting on the train with just my Eurail pass, or do I need a reservation from a different site?

Hi!

What Intercités train are you looking at? Paris - Toulouse? You need a reservation for these trains.

It doesnt matter where you buy your reservation from - the trains operator is SNCF (French Railways) so you can of course buy a reservation online from [ux]https://rail.shop/sncf/reservation[/ux]
You could also buy from Eurail reservation service (if they were able to sell it, dont know why they say it is not available) or for instance at a railway station in Germany or Austria.

Hi Flo,

The train I\'m looking at is Paris St. Lazare to Bayeux. Eurail website tells me that no reservations are possible and that I can board with just my rail pass, but when I check out the train on SNCF it shows an option to buy a reservation. Should I trust the info from Eurail or buy myself a reservation from SNCF?

Oh sorry...I just confused Bayeux with Bayonne. ;)

The trains from Paris St Lazare to Bayeux (and onward to Cherbourg) are "normal" Intercités which do not require a reservation. If you want, you can simply hop on the train and take a seat. If you want you can of course buy a seat reservation - these should cost 1,50€ in 2nd class, 2€ in 1st class from SNCF.

If you compare that to Intercités trains that _do_ require a reservation, such as Paris to Toulouse you will see that the prices for a reservation are more expensive (10€).

Thanks for the helpful post.

So I don\'t need to purchase anything, I can just hop on the train with my pass. Fantastic!

Thank you again!
