Hi all.
I´m going out on my first interrail tour late this month and i have a question. We are not going to have a tent with us, and we are not going to sleep in hostells. Out plan is to take i local train in the evenings to a small area next to the big cities, and then going out in the woods to sleep.

My swedish military training taught me that the best tool in the woods in every situation is a knife. So that makes me wonder, can i bring a knife with me without having trouble with the police in different countries?

Im talking about a knife the size of a normal mans palm, including the handle. I can take a smaller one with me but its not as good.

So long and thanks for all the fish. :D

I think that it's just in Fly that you could have problem! But I don't know with police.

Hey,

I sell camping knives on a daily basis, and here's what I can tell you...

The Criminal Justice Act (1988) says that you may carry a knife with a blade length of 3.0 or less so long as it is capable of folding.

However, if you need something with a longer blade you will need to convince the police that it is for a 'reasonable cause'.

My advice to you would be to certainly take a knife with you, but when you're not using it keep it in your pack, somewhere that's safe and secure, rather then keeping it in your pocket etc, where it could be interpreted by the police as being an offencive weapon.

I hope this helps!
