Is it possible to take our bike on the from Ljubljana to Postojna.
Do you have to book in advance and is their an extra for this?

Hi Sandy, welcome to railcc!

Yes, it is possible to carry a bicycle. The price is 3,40€ in addition to your own ticket.

Unfortunately, the information about on which trains you can take your bike is not really clear.
If you have a look at the schedule you will see some trains with the bicycle symbol: http://slo-zeleznice.si/images/Potniski_fotografije/potniski_pdf/vozni-red-2017-2018/07_ljubljana_pivka_ilirska_bistrica_sezana.pdf - on these trains it shoud be definitely possible to take your bike; however I think that you can also take it with you on most other trains.
If you search schedules on http://rail.shop/sz there is no information about which trains allow bike transport - the bike symbol shown there only indicates that there is limited availability on this certain train.
Best thing to do is to ask locally at the station in Ljubljana.
