Here is our intended route for July/August 2008.

Any helpful comment, hints, opinions on cities etc. would be great.

Start London to catch Eurostar

Paris – France

Strasbourg – France

Bern – Switzerland

Geneva – Switzerland

Cannes – France

Rome – Italy

Venice – Italy

Split – Croatia

Zagreb – Croatia OR Sarajevo – Bosnia/Herzegovina (haven’t decided yet)

Budapest – Hungary

Vienna – Austria

Munich – Germany

Prague – Czech Republic

Krakow – Poland

Warsaw – Poland

Berlin – Germany

Amsterdam – Holland

Brussels – Belgium to get train back to England

We’re aiming to do this on a continuous 1 month ticket, hoping to fit some busking on the trip as well so any advice on that would be good.

Thanks

Are you planning 18 cities in 30 days? I think that's far too much if you actually want to see any of the places you're going to, not to mention you'll be absolutely exhausted.

don't go to brussels, go to brugge instead. brugge is magic.

and yes, thats probably far too many. i've spent the last 3 days in berlin, leaving for krakow tonight, really wish i had longer here.

Guten tag Mr B

Don't forget to tell us about the Berlin - Krakow and Krakow - Prague trains when you get a chance. Some of us will be taking those next month.

Cheers, and

do widzenzia.

I agree it is quite a hefty schedule but i think what we are aiming for is just to get a taste of as many places as possible. The small matter of exhaustion is something we may need to consider though thanks for that. May work out a new more concise route soon i think.

Anyone got any info on busking in these various different countries?

I should kick out some places to learn to know the other places a little better. I wouldn't visit munich and strasbourg i think, but maybe you are looking for something special there. Most cities need at least a whole day to see, Paris and Berlin need 2 or 3.

thats pretty much what we were thinking, it would be great to visit more places this time then if/when we go again we can stay for longer at the places we enjoyed visiting, and miss out the ones we didnt like. I think getting rid of strasbourg and munich is a good idea though thanks.

Glad to hear that, since we decided a few days ago to spend our last two days in Brugge. :)

That's the exact one we wanted to go to, but there are five of us, and not enough rooms in the 6 bed dorms for the dates we wanted. The only option was a 14-bed dorm, which the others in my group didn't want to go in.

But in the end we found another one that looks good.
