Hey guys,
I got a question for you , so me and my friend from Vienna are planning on going interrailing through france, spain and portugal in summer. We thought the best pass would be the 10 days within 1 months pass. But after I read through some entries here I figured that one months means only 22 days is that right? also we are both more interested in off route places and more hidden spots but is that also possible to discover via going interrailing because I am not really up for all this typical spots and all big cities but I know interrailing is the cheapest way to get around ?
and last but not least is it also possible to travel around more places within one days becasue I apparently did not really got the system. When i go for the 10 days within one month pass does that mean i can only travel around from one city to another on one day or can i also do more routes within one day ?
I would really appreciate it if some of you guys could help me out here !

Hi!
There used to be a different range of Interrail passes until end of 2015, this included a "10 travel days in 22 days" pass. Since 2016, this pass is valid one full month (10 travel days in one month). If you want to make an Interrail tour to lesser known cities and places you might think about using your Interrail travel days for the longer trips of the journey and buy additional tickets for short trips and bus rides locally.
The Interrail pass will be a good and cheap option to cover ground, travel from Vienna to France and back and make "transfers" between larger cities. When you travel locally it often can be cheaper to simply buy a ticket for a short journey locally.
The system works like this: A travel day lasts from 0000 to 2359 and you can make as many trips as you like during these 24 hours. If you are travelling with an overnight train you can also make use of the 19:00 rule. The details are explained here: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/first-time-interrail[/ux]

And what do you think how much money I will need to cover up my entire trip including accommodation like can you give me a rough estimation for a daily budget ?

Hi Helen,
I would calculate with around 30 to 50€ per day; depending on how much money you are willing to spend on accomodation, food (eating in restaurants or getting takeaway/supermarket food or cooking in a hostel kitchen) etc...
(Good) hostels can be more than 30€ per person/bed during summer in cities such as Nice, Paris, Barcelona, San Sebastian, but are usually cheaper in Portugal.
So you can get away with a daily average budget of 30€ but it will be a more enjoyable holiday if you calculate with more. ;)
