Hi, can anyone let me know if there is a direct night train running from split to Budapest (without having to get off at Zagreb) prior to the summer season timetable? We will be travelling on Saturday June 3.

It seems that tickets can’t be purchased online but if I purchased them at the station in Split around 25 May would that give me enough time to book a 2berth sleeper carriage? Don’t want to arrive and find out they’re fully booked (if they’re even available)

Thanks in advance

Hi Tracey.

There will be a direct night train from Split to Budapest during summer. From June 16 to September 8. Read here: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/split-budapest-b1205/133

You are travelling to early and will have to split your route into two trains.

First by night train from Split to Zagreb: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/split-zagreb-b820/131
Read also here: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/zagreb-split-night-train/[/ux] and [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/de/zagreb-split-zug-likabahn/[/ux]

Tickets for the day and night train available here: [ux]https://rail.shop/hzpp[/ux]

To book the night train, use the link above, select train number "820". Pre-booking time is two months in advance.
Select the tab in the top for car 40 = couchette (6 berths per compartment). Or car 20 for sleeper (up to three persons).

The ticket from Zagreb to Budapest is only available at a station in Croatia from Euro 9. Or as well in bordering countries. If you cross before Hungary, you can also buy it there online on [ux]https://rail.shop/mav[/ux] - but the ticket has to be printed at a ticket machine in Hungary.

Pete :)
