Yes, there will be a direct night train from Split to Budapest in summer 2018. This is the schedule for 2017, but there wont be much changes in 2018: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/split-budapest-b1205/133[/ux]
You will need two travel days.
If you want to use just one travel day you can take the night train from Split to Zagreb: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/split-zagreb-b820/131[/ux] and change to a daytime train to Budapest. However, arrival in Budapest will then be around 16h30 in the afternoon.
