Hi there,

I was hoping to take the night train from Nice to Paris on Sunday 24 June. For some reason I assumed it ran every night, but now I'm not so sure. On the SNCF timetable www.intercites.sncf.com/resources/LigneFiche/19/FichePdf.pdf it seems to say it runs only Monday to Thursday. When I used the tool that produces a personalised timetable, I got one for the last week of June and it was saying Saturday only.
I see on some older threads that last summer the timetabling was all over the place - is this still the case now?

Any ideas gratefully received, thanks!

I just noticed it is possible to book tickets for Sunday up until 13 May, ie for the next nine weeks or so, which is within the period supposedly covered by the timetable that says Monday-Thursday only. So do I cross my fingers and hope they will carry on adding Sunday trains as the weeks roll on? My alternative will be to take the first TGV on Monday morning, but that means extending accommodation in Nice by an extra night - makes planning very difficult!

Hi.
There is the change in the schedules at the beginning of June.
A reason why not all information is online for summer right now.
But I am sure, this train will definitely run this summer again!

Thanks Peter, you are a legend for putting my mind almost at rest!!

Is it normally the case that it runs every night?

Hej,

SNCF is a little bit special in announcing their timetables in advance. As you can see in the leaflet, the common European timetable change (which would be on the second Sunday of June) is ignored, instead the timings are valid until 7th July.
Many trains are included in the official timetables at rather short notice, this is mainly due to track renewal which is carried out throughout the country. Of course this makes planning ahead not very easy. :os
Also, timings of many many trains change throughout the year on several occasions, often by only a few minutes - again this is due to track works.

Sadly information on whether a specific train will run on a specific date on a specific time is hard to get - at least SNCF now offers these leaflets for many Intercity services, which was not always the case.

Regarding your Nice - Paris night train I am quite sure that it will run daily during the summer, although like I tried to point out above there is no guarantee on that. You can only wait some time and check the schedules online from time to time whether there are any changes or not.
