What's the difference between p1 and p2?

I'm looking forward to buy an interrail ticket for 22 days continuous and I'd like to travel from Paris to Amsterdam... The stop in Brussels looks nice to me, so with the Interrail ticket how much will I pay in Thalys? :o

thanks.

Hey,

Just speculating, don't understand a word of German, but did you say you could get from Paris to Cologne for 13 euros with an interrail pass? Could you direct me to a website or something/someone with information on this please? Much appreciated. :)

the 13 EUR was the supplement in the past. now it is for Paris to Cologne: EUR 29... expensive for persons travelling by InterRail !!! :(

:arr: PARIS to COLOGNE (and return) - a cheaper solution:

1) ICE France - Germany from Paris to Frankfurt (supplement of EUR 5) and then to continue by free IC/ICE to Cologne: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/germany/de

@Heli23:
you travel on P1. so the fare for you Paris-Amsterdam is: EUR 33
if you only travel Paris to Brussels, it is EUR 26 - from Brussels you can take the free IC to Amsterdam! :)

I'm thinking of taking a train from Odense in Denmark to Gent in Belgium. I've been searching on this page: rejseplanen.dk
And I see that I've to take a train called THA 9418 (Köln Hbf to Bruxelles-Midi) Is this the same train as THALYS? Can I avoid this train?

THA is the THALYS.
There are cheaper solutions... for example by free regional and IC trains or by direct free ICE train.
Have a look on the schedule planer: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

Some days ago, they changed to the summer timetables. And as it seems - like you said - they cancelled this part of the connection:
Amiens Dep: 09:32 - RegionalExpress - free
Lille Flandres Arr: 10:59

To avoid travelers having a good connection without using the expensive THALYS - not nice. :(

I just updated it above!

Found this route:

Paris Nord: 08:58 Dep. (TGV)
Lille Flandres: 10:00 Arr.

Lille Flandres: 10:08 Dep. (Regional-express)
Antwerpen Centraal: 11:54 Arr.

Antwerpen Centraal: 12:00 Dep. (Intercity)
Amsterdam Centraal: 14:06 Arr.

I think is a good route and I only have to pay 3€ for the reservation of TGV right?

Thank you :)

How much did you pay for the TGV supplement, then? 3€ or 10€? Maybe they charge you the extra 10€ when you buy it at the counter instead of a ticket machine. :?:

i'm sorry but i can't find the first connection

Paris Nord Dep: 07:34 - IC - free
Aulnoye Aymeries Arr: 09:22

there is only this:

. Paris Nord
Aulnoye Aymeries 02.08.09
dep
arr 07:58
10:22

and it uses TGV and it stops in lille flandres first, so it's kinda pointless. and you have to pay the TGV.

The train doesn't run on sundays. :(

There'd be this supplement-free connection:

Paris 0806 - 0939 Laon
Laon 0956 - 1049 Hirson
Hirson 1055 - 1129 Aulnoye-Aymeries
Aulnoye-Aymeries 1136 - 1245 Lille
Lille 1305 - 1338 Kortrijk
Kortrijk 1343 - 1454 Antwerpen
Antwerpen 1500 - 1706 Amsterdam

Sound like a fun trip. :)

However, I'd suggest spending the 3€ on a TGV to Lille (1158 departure probably too late since you arrive in Lille at 1303, so it'd be the 1058 departure from Paris).

On this route it should be fine - especially traveling sunday morning.

However, I certainly wouldn't recommend spending the night in the Gare du Nord/Gare de l'Est area. :|
You could search for a cosy bar to spend the night or take the 1958 TGV saturday evening to Lille. Continue to Amsterdam and spend the night in the train Utrecht - Amsterdam - Den Haag - Rotterdam vv. It runs all night and is quite busy; you should be fine there, I used it a few years ago.

Hej Peter,
In terms of going Paris-Amsterdam via Frankfurt, how easy is it to get this route (frequent enough etc) TGV??? and is it still EUR 5 for the supplement costs? I cant find it on the route planner :( Just trying to finalise little details and get information together because we think this route might be a little more scenic and saves having to change trains 4/5 times...

hej Ian ...

I think 4 times a day...
you have to search this way:

1) TGV Paris-Karlsruhe (EUR 5) | Karlsruhe-Frankfurt (by free ICE/IC) | Frankfurt-Amsterdam by ICE
2) ICE Paris-Mannheim (EUR 5) | Mannheim-Frankfurt (by free ICE/IC) | Frankfurt-Amsterdam by ICE
3) if you can't get a seat in the TGV/ICE to Germany: Paris-Strasbourg (EUR 3/10 - avoid peak times) | 2 times a day direct free EC/IC train coming from Switzerland (Basel) via Strasbourg, Luxembourg to Brussels | Brussels-Amsterdam by free IC

have fun ... :)

it' the same everywhere...
during the week in the morning 08-10, evening 1630-19
and then Friday evening until 2100 and Sunday evening 16-2200
:)
just ask at the station as sometimes there are as well special peak days like holidays starting and so on ... but it is not to hard to find a cheap train. :)

Hey everyone,

I'm also hoping to travel to Amsterdam from Paris. I can see from the website if you travel by Thalys that there is an additional charge of 37euros. How do I reserve my seat and pay this fee? I'm based in the UK, so there is no close train stations to book a reservation. Is it ok to wait to I get to Paris and reserve my seat, or am I able to do it in advance?

Thanks,

Sean. :D

Hi Sean.

Usually it is no problem to get the reservation in Paris at a station as it is a frequent connection. If you are a little bit flexible, absolutely no problem.
If you want to have it before you start your trip, visit their website - you have to call them to get the InterRail discounted special fare.

I've looked at this route and find that it may be a much cheaper, but not too time consuming alternative to the Thalys. However I obviously do not know these railway stations. Is it likely that the stations are small and that it would be no problem to find the next train within 5 minutes? Has anyone on the forum travelled this route yet? I do realise that there seems to be a train 1 hour after the train I am aiming to get, so it wouldn't be too bad if i missed the first train.

Thanks,

Sean :D

Hi Sean.

Usually it is no problem to get the next train - however it always can happen that one train is 30 minutes in delay and then you miss your connection train. But in general you get your next train.
Just ask the staff in the train at what platform your next train starts. It is normal to have 5-10 minutes for a change.

Is there no easy way to get from Paris Nord to Paris Montparnasse? According to the route planner, it will take us one and a half hour and we'll have to change transportation 3 times. Is this correct?

Hi, my friends and I are leaving on July for our first InterRail; we're going to Paris-Amsterdam-Berlin-Prague.
No problems for the trains Amsterdam-Berlin (IC) and Berlin-Praha (EuroCity...BTW, does it need reservation?) but I couldn't find any good solution from Paris to Amsterdam.
I checked and there's no train from Lille Flandres to Antwerpen (as in the route earthfirst proposed)!
However, there's an Eurostar from Lille Europe to Bruxelles. It's just 32 min of train.
Do you think I could make it without paying the very expensive fare for the reservation (it's more than 70€!) or should I just look for another solution?
From Bruxelles there's an IC every hour to Amsterdam, so it would be no problem. It's only that half an hour on an ES, that could cause me a big fine (probably MUCH more than 70€).
It's just I don't want to travel for 8 hrs, since we just have 3 days in Paris and 3 in Amsterdam

Hi!

You probably dont find a connection to Antwerpen becuase you search for dates after 12th June. There is a timetable change on this date and it always takes some time to update the databases of the online schedule planners.

What you can do:

1)
Go to Lille Flandres/Europe with a TGV from Paris Nord :arr: 6€ reservation
From Lille, travel via Kortrijk, Gent Sint Niklaas to Antwerpen Centraal (usually no change required) :arr: no reservation
In Antwerpen you have connections to the hourly Bruxelles - Amsterdam IC trains :arr: no reservation
Travel time: ~5 hours

2) Go to Lille with TGV, then use an Eurostar to Bruxelles, continue with IC to Amsterdam :arr: 6€ TGV; for the Eurostar between Lille and Bruxelles it should be possible to get reservations for the regular TGV tariff: 6€

3) Thalys Paris to Bruxelles: :arr: 33€

4) Without paying anything extra at all: Either Paris - Amiens - Lille and continue as above; or Paris - Aulnoye - Bruxelles and with IC to Amsterdam
~7h30 - 8h30

Thanks Flo, you really reassured me. I know InterRail doesn't have to be planned to the minute, but is nice to know we have at least 2 good solutions we can rely on... ;)

I rec. also this route by TG via Lille/ALL trains run ev. hour/so a missed or delayed train does not play hovoc too much. Only for the TGV you have to reserve. In LIlle/there are 2 stations/use FLANDRES )the euro leaves from Europe°1 km onward', The trains to BE mostly leave from a side platform/when you come from Par on TGV turn right at end of platform/walk along and then right again/more tracks are a little further on.

Hi.
Here is a list of trains which you can use and those which require an extra reservation:

- Interrail: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/how-to-interrail
- Eurail: https://rail.cc/en/eurail-validity

If you want to travel Paris-Amsterdam, have a look at the schedules. You will find free (with rail pass) routes and others which are faster but expensive:
:arr: https://rail.cc/en/train/paris-to-amsterdam

If you want to travel with a point to point ticket, buy it for a direct Thalys train here: [ux]https://rail.shop/beurope[/ux]

For more information please give me more details, what exaclty you want, if you travel with a rail pass, which one, etc. Thank you.

these schedules are updated?

Yes. Why?
There might be some changes due to the problems of the damaged FYRA trains in Benelux. So that we can not update the schedules daily. But you can also check the details for your date of travel by yourself as I can't help you if you won't give me more details (date, time, free trains or high speed trains, ...???).
If more users of railcc buy their Interrail tickets here on the recommended website, we can also invest more time to update such schedules daily. If users only use railcc for free without supporting us, only taking content and not giving (for example as well uploading information and photos of their home town) it's not the friendly way.

I am traveling to Europe in less than two weeks and am a bit overwhelmed by the Eurail reservations. I have the Eurail Global Pass and an itinerary I would like to stick to for the most part. The first leg of the trip will go from Paris to Amsterdam. I looked at reservations on railcc as well as from the Thalys website. On their website they suggest Eurail users to make reservations
at the select stations or by phone. Is it a bad idea to reserve tickets on the day of or one day prior? I'd rather discuss with an Operator and get the reservation then and there rather than pay for expedited shipping.on their website it also mentioned reservations range from 5- 35euros or something like that. I understand this may be peak time and that reservation prices could go up or trains will fill up, just wanted your advice. Thanks! :P

Hi.
The reservation fee for the direct THALYS train is EUR 39 (Paris-Amsterdam).
If you want to avoid it, travel by a free train connection (slower, but no extra reservation fees): [ux]https://rail.cc/en/search-eurail-route/paris-amsterdam/france-netherlands/100
You can never preview if a train is booked out or not - always depends on date, time and several other factors.
The reservation is also available in the railcc shop: [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux]
And please buy your Eurail pass at railcc to support all the information we offer. As it is not fair to ask here for free support - but buy your ticket somewhere else. Thank you!

July 1st Paris to Amsterdam on Thalys

THALYS RESERVATION FOR EURAIL PASSHhttps://rail.cc/en/night-train/sweden/seERS Info

39 Euros sounds a lot better to me. Is there someplace we can reserve online for this rate?

Hi.
If I use [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux] with your given data, I find USD68 as reservation fee.
But note the yellow box (https://rail.cc/en-type-country/thalys/thalys-thy/41)- there are extra handling fees if you order online, as no one earns money with reservations. It is thought as an EXTRA service for users who purchased their rail pass on railcc. But the person printing the reservation and send it in a letter to you has to be paid as well.
So the best option for you is to buy it at the station in Paris.
