Hello,
I am hoping to travel from Istanbul to Zagreb in the shortest amount of time as possible. I noticed on the route there is a short connection in Sofia, only 47 minutes. Is the train from Istanbul to Sofia often late? Is it likely I will miss this connection?

Hi and welcome to railcc!
It is hard to predict if the connection works out; however in this direction (Istanbul > Sofia > Belgrade) it should normally work. It is much more risky if you would travel in the opposite direction, since most delays on this route are in Serbia.
