I plan to take my 16 year old daughter to pack europe for July and part of august , when i went 30 years ago we camped and hosteled but now it seems that hosteling is the only way? is this accurate?

We plannned to go from Amsterdam down through Brussels, Paris over to Interlakken down to Venice, Florence and across to Corfu before flying home. I want my daughter to be able to enjoy her time without me and thought that the island Corfu would be a safe place is this where most of the Uni kids hangout in the summer. That would be great for her I thought.? any advice please!

What is the average cost per day for hosteling or camping?

I understand that things are a lot more crowded now adays than 30 years ago and everything is now lined up even the trains required reservations is this so even with an interail pass?

heey,

Great Idea to show your daughter something of Europe, so I' m going to try to help you with the questions. Hostelling is not the only way, you can also take a tent with you and you can go camping. I would say on a campsite.. I've never been on the island corfu, so I have no opinion for that..

hmm let's see... a normal hostel is I think 20 euro, but you have a little expensiver ones, and also more expensive ones. but this is the average I quess,

Some trains need a reservations, like the high speed trains, Ice, thalys,Tago etc. you can ask the man/woman behind the desk if you have to pay a fee for the train, and we get a book where you can see where you have to pay fee for...

enjoy your trip

Thank you for the response, I was hoping that it is still feasable to camp. It is just great sometimes to wake up in the open rather than a hostel. I will continue to check into the camping side a bit more. :P

I hope you will have a fantastic time in europe, there's so much too see here, and If you are in amsterdam you should visite Madame Taussau, famous persons in wax, the only disadvantage is that it's very expensive.. have fun:D

Hey,
Corfu is an amazingly beautiful island! However, different parts attract different types of people! There are the beautiful beaches of paleokastritsa (i think that is how it is spelt), and the wonderful greek monastries and such for quieter people. There are also a lot of family resorts dotted around the island. On the southern tip of Corfu is a town called Kavos. Kavos is Corfu's answer to Ibiza, with non-stop nightclubbing, partying and drinking. This is definitely a hot spot for european university students along with resorts such as Laganas (Zante), Malia (Crete), Faliraki (Rhodes), Ayia Napa, Magaluf, Ibiza, Benidorm etc... Not sure if this is the ideal place for a 16 year old to be going out alone however, but is a great experience for young people!

Hope this Helped

I don't know if this is also for the new interrail, but with the old version you have to be a European citizen for 6 months. I saw you come from Bali, so I just warn you. Maybe you have to buy Eurail, it's something like Interrail for people from the rest of the world..
