Hiya,

I\'ve got Interrail tickets for my train travel around Romania and it says that I have to reserve seats through the local train stations. Could you tell me how to do this please?

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to railcc!

You go to a train station (in Romania), go to the ticket desk and ask for a seat reservation for the train you want to take. Really simple. :)

Best thing to do is to take a piece of paper where you write the important information (departure and arrival station, departure time and train number if available) which will make communication easier if you dont speak Romanian.
I would recommend to use the schedule planner of Romanian Railways CFR Calatori: [ux]http://rail.shop/cfr[/ux]

Note that you only need reservations for long distance trains (IR): [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/interregio-cfr/195[/ux]

Reserved seats are usually not marked on board the trains ans usually other passengers just take any seat (not neccessarily the seat they have reserved). Dont worry, just hop on your reserved train and take a free seat.

Hi Flo,

Thanks for your quick reply.

Is it not possible to reserve seats in advance then? The train journeys are essential to our holiday and I\'m worried about trains being full when we get there.

I\'m traveling from Brasov to Sighisoara, then to Sibiu and back to Brasov, so I\'d imagine they\'d mostly be fairly big journeys.

Making reservations one day in advance is usually enough; you will also find regional trains for which you do not need a reservation as a backup on all routes.

If you look for connections on [ux]http://rail.shop/cfr[/ux] seach for a connection and you will be redirected to a new page where you see all avaialable connections on that day. If you click on "Cumpar" (= buy; available only for long distance trains), you can click on "Locuri disponible" to see avaialable places for each service. I am not quite sure if all available seats are sold online or if there is always a contingent left for sale at stations only.

Anyway, like I mentioned above it is usually sufficient to book one day or so in advance; and as a backup you can always travel with regional trains.

I do not know of a way to get reservations online; at the website they sell tickets only; but if you want you can contact CFR Calatori directly.
