Hello!

I plan to travel in Europe during the Christmas holidays.
I would like to travel for 25 days, going from Brussels and then to Paris, Barcelona, Venice, Vienna, Prague and then coming back to Brussels.
With my friends, I would like to spend thus 4-5 days in the cities we plan to visit.

Can you explain me which eurail pass would best fit this plan?
What does mean the x days within 1 month?

Hi David, welcome to railcc!

"5 days within 1 month" would mean that your Eurail pass is valid one full month (for instance from September 27 to October 26) and that you have five full calendar days ("travel days") for travelling by train within that month.

Such a travel day is always from 00:00 until 23:59; you can freely choose your travel days while travelling. On a travel day you can use as many trains and make as many changes as you like.
You can also make use of the "19:00 rule for night trains": boarding a night train in the evening after 19:00 and making an overnight journey you only need one travel day (the day of arrival).
This is explained in detail here: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/how-to-eurail[/ux]

Regarding your route.
Barcelona to Venice will be the most complicated/lenghty part; while the other journeys are pretty straightforward.

- Brussels to Paris: Take the fast Thalys high speed train: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail-train-reservation/thalys/41[/ux]; alternative connections with slower trains without compulsory reservation are available (via Lille - Amiens)
- Paris to Barcelona: Several direct TGV high speed trains are available: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail-train-reservation/tgv-france-espana/298[/ux]; alternatively you can take a night train to the French/Spanish border: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail-night-train/paris-portbou-icn-3731/78[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail-night-train/paris-latour-de-carol-icn-3981-83/76[/ux] then continue with local trains to Barcelona
- Barcelona to Venice: as mentioned before this is a bit more complicated. The journey is not possible within one day. If you want to go by train you could travel along the mediterranean coast to Marseille or Nice as explained here: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/barcelona-marseille-nice-train/[/ux] make an overnight stop (or two) and continue to Venice. Alternatively you could head back to Paris, then take the Thello night train to Venice: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail-night-train/paris-venice-th-221/6[/ux] or take the ferry from Barcelona to Civitavecchia [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-ferry/barcelona-civitavecchia/23[/ux] (or to Savona, run by the same company) and continue from there to Venice.
- Venice to Vienna: either by direct day train [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail-train-reservation/eurocity-oebb-italia/274[/ux] or overnight [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail-night-train/venice-vienna-en-236-nightjet/97[/ux]
- Vienna to Prague: direct Railjet services every two hours: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail-train-reservation/railjet-oebb/54[/ux]
- Prague to Brussels: possible during one day; either by train via Dresden - Leipzig - Frankfurt/Main (no reservation needed) or first by IC Bus [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail-train-reservation/ic-intercity-bus/260[/ux] from Prague to Nuremberg, then by train via Frankfurt/Main to Brussels.
