Hi,
I'm trying to cycle across the world and am currently in Dubrovnik (Croatia). I need to reach Thessloniki (Greece) by August 10th and my bike is 60kg and very difficult to cycle up the mountains here in 40 degrees heat. Therefore I would like to see if it's possible to catch a train from Bar to Belgrade and carry my bike on the train.

I looked through existing post and found another from 6 years ago but that was from Belgrade to Bar and there were not much info that I could use. I have heard that it is not permitted, or that I would have to pay a bribe to the conductor or even pay for a car space in the car section of the train. So I'm a little confused.

Is anyone could offer some help, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks

Purak

Also, if it could be possible to have an idea of how much the ticket would cost, it would enable me to plan my journey and my expenditure a little better.

Thanks a million

Hi Purak!

On the website of Montenegrin railways I did not find any info: [ux]http://www.zcg-prevoz.me[/ux] On the Serbian railways website there is a short mention that they only carry bicycles if you can disassemble them and carry as hand luggage - which probably isnt the case with you bike since it is 60kg?

However, you may try your luck and see if you could send your bike on the car-carrying coaches that run on both the day and night train from Bar to Belgrad; there even would be such a coach on the Belgrade - Thessaloniki night train.
Normal tickets are 21€ for Bar - Belgrade and 33,80€ for Belgrade - Thessaloniki; I dont know the prices for transporting a car/in your case bike on the car-carrying coach.
