Hello!
I read a lot of you had problems with Renfe & spain supplements. I got the same problems since I'm planning right now my IR trip for summer 2010.
Well, this is going to be my hardest IR ever, since Spain is a hell with this cockeyed compulsory reservation.
Fortunately me girlfriend speaks spanish, so I found out further info. TIKNET website doesn't work; RENFE's call center operators won't help you in reserving your seat outside Spain, since they don't know anything; they'll tell you that it's not possible and you gotta go in Spain and do it at the station. Unfortunately... trains in August can be full.

Well, you CAN reserve your seat from your country. Don't worry. Just need to give a buzz to the following phone number: +34 902 24 34 02
You can reserve your train/trains by telephone and then pay at the station. Easy.

They told us that supplements for a seat won't never be higher than 10 Euro. Anyway for IR supplement prices check out other trends here in the forum .
Hope this can help you!

:arr: Book your Interrail or Eurail pass reservation for Spain here: [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux]
Or at a railway station in Spain.

Just to confirm it: the number above is the official number of RENFE for international calls.

Hello, I am in France, I want to call the number you provided to make reservation.
But no matter I use Skype-out or Handy (Lebara), both of them can not reach.
The number always responded:it is not available.
I do not know what the problem is.

Do anyone have other methods ?

Thank you very much.

Hi.
Just tested it - I can reach it without a problem (I used a normal mobile phone) - maybe try instead of the + the 00 at the beginning of the number. And it is the official number of RENFE.
Peter :)

Hi Eky.
Wait until tomorrow and go to a railway station - easier than by phone. Less mistakes.

I just had a chat with the nice lady at RENFE international, calling from Marseilles, it was no problems at all using 0034......

She reminded me that I had to pick up the tickets at least 24 hours before departure, so bear that in mind when making a reservation that's quite close to the departure date. Also, as with all long-distance European routes, the trail fill fast and you might not get 2nd class seats if you are late (like me) :)

Hello,

I just tried calling the number indicated below to book the Granada-Barcelona night train for July. I speak Spanish and the lady told me I had to pick up the reservations in Spain 72 hours after I made them. Which isn't possible because I am not leaving to Spain until July ...

And I can't buy only reservations via the website - only full tickets.

I am travelling with two children and wanted to make sure that we had beds to sleep in on that train.

Anyone has some idea of how to sort this out ?

Thanks,

Christina

Hi Christina.
There are 3-bed and 4-bed sleepers available via [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/renfe[/ux]
Fill in as departure station Granada and destination Barcelona Sants.
If it is mentioned reservation for Eurail travellers it is also valid for InterRail travellers.

There should be no 3bed sleepers on that night train!

Hi Peter,

I tried via shop railcc (would love to find ways of supporting your work) but it didn't work: I got this error message everytime although I entered Granada as departure and Barcelona Sants for destination ...

Railways reservation system : FROM station and TO station must not be the same.

Must be a bug.

Hi,

Tried to make a reservation for the night train between Barcelona and Madrid for the 27th of August, and no seats where shown to me in the options. The only options were 2CL COUCHET.4B and 2CL COUCHET.6B.

This means that for getting a seat reserved I will have to phone Renfe right?

Thanks,
Chico

Hi again,

I just phoned RENFE and they say I got to pick up the tickets within 72 hours.

No way I'm going to Spain just to collect the tickets.

How is this possible? It seems impossible to book the tickets...

Hey Chico,

have you been to Porto Campanha rail station? They should be able to make the reservation. I have been to Portugal last year and it was no problem to get reservation for domestic trains in Spain at Lisboa Oriente and Santa Apolonia (and my Portuguese is poor)... :D

Hi Flo,

Why haven't I thought about that? So simple! I will try to go there.

If you guys didn't help us, me and my friends would have a ton of questions to answer.

Thank you very much again!

Hi all, we're having a nightmare trying to get tickets with this company. I can't do anything online as it won't add the interrail pass. My friend who speaks Spanish has called them on the number you gave & they said they can't book tickets for us as we're in the UK. If we reserve them & pay on the day, will we have to pick them up 72h before? We can't do that! We can do 24h before as we'll be in the cities then. Please help, I'm just about tearing my hair out :(

You need one reservation for every train.

Can you order reservations online if you have an address to send them to?

I have family in Spain and I was going to order the reservations online on the RENFE site and send them their?

There is no online reservation possibility for InterRail on RENFE website.
Either use [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux] or the above telephone number or buy at a station.

Perfect - thanks! Can I get the comfort class with the second class pass - since it's the same price?

No, unless you would like to pay the difference between regular Turista (2nd class) and Preferente (1st class) extra. ;)
However, on some trains there is Turista Plus class available which are Preferente coaches but without any extra services. I am not sure about the current situation whether or not you can use Turista Plus with 2nd class InterRail or not - I once got the information that a 1st class ticket is needed, on the other hand I got reports that people were using it with 2nd class IR...you have to check locally.

Hi everybody,

currently I'm planning my first IR journey and I found this site very helpful. Thanks a lot for all the information you all put together.
Now to my question: I bought an IR pass on another website (shame on me) because at that time I didn't know railcc. Is it still possible to place reservations via the railcc shop?
Second one: Why does the shop say 14 € for one reservation from Sevilla to Madrid? It is just one train (AVE).
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards
d

You can make reservations online at [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux], or as well at a station. Please note that reservations through rail.shop/acprail/reservation are provided by our partner ACP and we do not earn anything by selling them. The price difference is due to added handling fees, we cannot do anything about that.

Hi,
I know it's been asked a lot but is there no way to make reservations in Spain when you are in a different country? I am in Portugal and will be in Madrid on Thursday morning,I would like to catch a train about 1 1/2 h later to Barcelona and then the next to Paris.
The only option I get is to get the ticket sent via mail.
I was seriously considering crossing the border to Spain (I am in Lagos) to buy tickets but I would waste a whole day doing that.
Is there no other way of doing it?

Best regards!

the very obvious is to visit the local CP-estacion: IF there is 1 railway who should know RENFE it must be the CP=Portuguese Trains.
RENFE is linked to a Kind of Spanish all-travelagnets System, as often their tickets are sold by them, I do not know if this also extends into PT and/or if they can do RES-only bookings.
OR: do not be lazy: go back to first Posts and try if that fone still works-then you have certainty the RES is waiting for you.

I never had troubles getting reservations for the night trains from Lisboa to Spain at a Portuguese station, for instance in Lisboa Oriente or Rossio.
