I'm going to be doing a trip from Rome to Stockholm, using 7 travel days. Would it be more worthwhile to get the 5 travel days in 10 (£147) and use singles for the other 2 days. Or the 10 days in 22 days (£215) when. 3 of my travel days will be on Night Trains (Venice to Munich, Munich To Prague, Berlin To Copenhagen).

I looked at the cost of a reservation on DeutscheBahn of a 6 couchette coach on a night train from Venice to Munich, and it was 27.50€.

I guess it depends on what the singles may be? But night trains without reservations seem expensive.

In your experience what do you reckon is correct?

Here's my route:

Rome > Pisa > Venice (all 1 travel day) > Munich > Prague > Berlin > Copenhagen > Stockholm.

I'd really appreciated your experience input.

Also, how in advance do you reckon I should reserve night trains for October? Is it ok a couple of days before?

Thanks.

Hi.
If you want to use point to point tickets on some parts of your route, check the following websites...

Italy (e-tickets): [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux]
Germany (e-tickets): [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
Sweden: sj.se and Denmark: dsb.dk
Prices depends on date.

Night trains are all listed here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

Rome - Munich: you can book online via [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] (see information bellow the map)
https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/rome-munich-cnl-484/34
If you book early, you can get as well nice special fares without Interrail!

Munich - Prague: there is no night train on this route. If you travel with Interrail, avoid the buses as they require a reservation (EUR 10), use the free trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/munich-to-prague

Berlin - Copenhagen: also possible by night train via Malmö (EUR 19 in 6-couchette). Not running daily - read here: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/berlin-malmoe-en-300/58
From Malmö by free Öresund-train (very frequent) to Copenhagen: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/berlin-to-copenhagen

If you like mountains, change your route a little bit and cross the Alps for free from Milan to Switzerland. It's possible to get to Munich from there in the evening (either from Chur or Zurich): https://rail.cc/en/interrail/milan-to-zurich

October: you should be fine to make reservations only some days in advance. But it is not possible preview it. Sometimes there are local holidays, weekend (Friday and Sunday nights), ......

That's it for now ... and if you like, support railcc and buy your ticket here via our partner link [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you,
Peter :)

Hi Peter, thanks for the quick response and detail!

I don't have a very flexible schedule unfortunately.

The night train from Berlin to Copenhagen via Malmo, is there not a direct one to Copenhagen? I am wondering because Malmo to Copenhagen would be backwards? Or is this just the cheapest?

Would you suggest the 5 in 10 day pass or the 10 in 22 for me?

Just click the links: Berlin to Copenhagen (https://rail.cc/en/interrail/berlin-to-copenhagen) there you will find both night trains. The expensive but direct one or the more interesting one (train is going on a ferry, stay in the train or go on deck - also better times) via Malmö.

Direct: https://rail.cc/en/train/prague-to-copenhagen
Via Malmö: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/berlin-malmoe-en-300/58

You can book both online (Malmö one via Veolia, see link bellow the map).

It should be possible to do with the 5 in 10 (https://rail.cc/en/interrail-global-pass) if you buy point to point tickets for Italy. Calculate it. Use the links I gave you above. Try to get special prices for Trenitalia and have a look if it is in total cheaper than the difference to the 10 in 22. :)

Peter :)
