Hi,
I\'m kind of confused - do I or do I not need to change trains between Prague and Zürich if I go buy night train? The timetable shows 5 changes but the text says I don\'t need to change..?

Hi.
There is the direct train available: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/prague-zurich-en-50466/492
Which schedule planer do you use with the 5 changes?
More details here: [ux]https://www.cd.cz/vlak/1547/5.6.2018/5457256/17.48/8503000/8.20/[/ux]
Do you travel with Interrail and need a reservation (expensive see first link above)?
By point to point tickets you can get really good prices for a sleeper train! Book via [ux]https://rail.shop/cd[/ux]
Pete :)

I used the schedule planner on interrail.eu [ux]https://rail.shop/interraileu[/ux]
Hmm...decisions, decisions... I would prefer the night train, because that way I save time, but it\'s pretty expensive (on the other hand I won\'t need to pay for a hostel that night) What would you do? Haha, I need advice from someone with more experience.

Hi and welcome to railcc!

The direct night train from Prague to Zurich consists of a single sleeping car (in peak season two) which is operated as a "through carriage". This means, that the night train is not an actual train itself, but instead the sleeping car is attached to a number of other trains along its way.
In this case, the sleeping car gets from Prague to Linz with a regular express train, from Linz to Salzburg with the Budapest - Munich night train and finally from Salzburg to Zurich with the Vienna - Zurich night train.
The Budapest - Munich train I mentioned above also carries coaches for Zurich, which are also attached to the Vienna - Zurich train in Salzburg.
...you still here? ;)

Soo...for you this means that you could also travel in a regular seat on the express train from Prague to Linz and change there to the night train to Zurich, either in a seat, couchette or sleeper.
Travel time will be the same but your reservation costs will be cheaper. Of course, the best option still would be to invest in the sleeper reservation and enjoy the whole trip from Prague to Zurich in bed. ;)

Aah okay, got it! Thank you! I think I will book a sleeper Prague-Zürich so that I can sleep all night.
