I am planning to go on my first interrail this summer. I want to get out of Oslo in the cheapest way possible, so I thought I should take the train to Copenhagen, via Gothenburg, rather than the ferry to Germany/Denmark (please correct me if I am wrong.) I want to start in Amsterdam and wondered about taking the night train, as it is a long journey. Unfortunately I find the Gothenburg-Amsterdam night train not to be available any more. I tried to find if there were any other night trains to Amsterdam and found the same message on all of them:

"This connection is NOT available anymore. No date is given for a reactivation." on https://rail.cc/en/night-train/netherlands/nl.
Is it any reason to believe that this is just temporarily and a regular thing, which will change in some time? Or are all the night trains to Amsterdam actually closed down? If it is, do you have some recommendations for an alternative cheap way to Amsterdam? (Worst case, I will go the other way and go to Eastern Europe first (and start in Prague).)

Thanks.

Hi!

The last regular night trains to Amsterdam (Amsterdam - Zürich/Munich) have been withdrawn permanently by DB (German Railways) last December. There are no regular night trains left to the Netherlands.

If you are starting from Oslo, there is no really good (fast and cheap) option...you either have to travel by train via Gothenburg - Malmö to Copenhagen and onwards to Hamburg. From Hamburg you can continue towards the rest of Europe. Between Copenhagen and Hamburg a night train is available in the summer months: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/copenhagen-hamburg-ic-230/568[/ux] and [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/copenhagen-hamburg-ic-1130/570[/ux]

From Oslo the ferries to Hirtshals or even Kiel are quite interesting but not cheap I think.
Maybe also have a look at the Ystad to Swinoujscie ferry if you actually want to start your trip Poland/Eastern Europe. It should be possible to reach the night ferry within a day from Oslo via Gothenburg - Malmö.

Support our work and buy your Interrail pass through our partner link with interrail.eu: [ux]http://rail.shop/interrail/[/ux] - thank you! :)

That\'s to bad, but thank you.
The ferry is quite expensive, so I wouldn\'t go without them giving out cheap ticets (and they probably dosen\'t do that in peak season).
