We are four people going from Krakow to Marseille.
Can we take the night train from Krakow to Vienna?
Then the suggested best daytrain, would that be via Zurich?
What will be the best bargain for four retired people?

Hi Anno, welcome to railcc!

Do you want to travel with Interrail? [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail[/ux]
Or do you want to travel with single tickets?
Do you want to make a return journey to Krakow as well? How long do you want to travel?

You could take the night train from Krakow to Vienna [ux]https://rail.cc/en/night-train/krakow-vienna-en-402/70[/ux], then travel from Vienna during the day to Marseille like this:

Krakow 2202 - 0655 Wien
Wien 0730 - 1520 Zürich
Zürich 1534 - 1702 Mulhouse
Mulhouse 1711 - 2146 Marseille

However, I wouldnt recommend that; you have a high risk of missing a connection due to a delayed train. I would recommend a connection with more time between trains, for instance:

Krakow 1022 - 1331 Bohumin
Bohumin 1350 - 1550 Breclav
Breclav 1555 - 1649 Wien
Wien 2127 - 0824 Venezia
Venezia 1150 - 1415 Milano
Milano 1510 - 2231 Marseille

You can look for schedules here: [ux]http://plan.rail.cc/[/ux] - I recommend to search for schedules in several steps; for instane Krakow to Wien, Wien to Venezia, Venezia to Marseille. Of course there are other routes possible as well, for instane from Wien via Zürich to Marseille.

Regarding tickets it depends on your actual route, when you want to travel etc...
For the route I suggested above you could buy tickets as follows:
Krakow - Bohumin: [ux]http://rail.shop/cd[/ux]
Bohumin - Wien: [ux]http://rail.shop/cd[/ux]
Wien - Venezia: [ux]http://rail.shop/oebb[/ux]
Venezia - Marseille: [ux]https://rail.shop/omio[/ux]
