Hi guys,

I'm a newbie to backpacking and I am planning something for next summer. I was wondering if I would need to take a sleeping bag with me for the hostels and stuff? As well as a pillow (maybe a blow up one for ease of transporting?)

Any help much appreciated!!!

It depends on where you will go really. If you are goind to warmer climes only then you might not need a sleeping bag but I always end up using mine if it's a bit cold or the hostel is not too clean.

I would really recommend you to bring your sleeping bag! I came back from my first interrail trip last week and I didn´t bring my sleeping bag... I missed it so much. Specially if your planning to go with the nighttrains a lot.. It´s really nice to have something to cover your self with even though it isn´t that cold. So bring your sleeping bag ;)

i took a sleeping bag on mine, and only used it once, but was still glad to have it. it's nice to know that you definitely have some sort of cover.

Hey...can anyone advise me on an inexpensive and very lightweight/small sleeping bag to take interrailing. I will be going in late july/early august and remining mostly in southern and eastern europe so the weather is likey to be hot. I will only need it occassionally on ferries and some trains not for camping so it doesnt need to be amazing quality or anything.

Any advice would be great!

There are two bag packs I really enjoyed the last times travelling.
But the website and shop is only available in German language ... ||
But maybe there are some of the same style available in other countries.
They are called: Ajungilak
