DK

Intercity trains are the backbone of long-distance passenger traffic in Denmark. The trains connect Copenhagen via Odense to various destinations in Denmark such as Aarhus or Aalborg. Trains usually run every hour. They make fewer stops than regional trains but more stops than the faster Intercity Lyn services.

IC trains have comfortable seats in 2nd and 1st class.
- air condition
- power sockets
- bicycle transport
- facilites for the disabled
- WIFI

Two types of trains are in use for IC services. Both have the same interior and amenities.
- IC3 (class MF): three coach DMU, running to Aarhus, Aalborg, Flensburg
- IR4 (class ER): four coach EMU, running to Esbjerg, Fredericia

Both IC3 and IR4 have a special front design (similar to SNCB AM96 trains in Belgium) that allow you to walk from one train to another when coupled together.
Some IC services consist of coupled trains running from Copenhagen to different destinations. Trains are then split at an intermediate station from where they continue to their destinations. Make sure to sit in the correct portion of the train.

Seat reservation is not compulsory but recommended at peak hours on longer trips.
