A friend and I are planning to go interrailling in July and have finally come up with this plan for a month's travelling. This is our first time and we are desperate to visit as many new places as possible but are we being too ambitious? Here's the route:

Berlin-Warsaw-Krakow-Prague-Vienna-Bratislava-Budapest-Zagreb-Ljubljana-Venice-Milan-Bern/Zurich/Geneva-Paris

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

nothing is impossible if you planned it right and have luck but personally i like more to travel than to go sightseeing :o
since it would be your first interrail trip i suggest you to go to fewer cities and have some days to relax or see them better...
at the trips to come you can go to the rest...
also avoid expensive cities and countries for your first trip cause its not so easy to manage with money :o 8)

my suggestion something like this..
Berlin-Warsaw-Prague-Vienna-Budapest-Zagreb-Ljubljana-Venice-Milan-Geneva-Paris

after all its your trip so you can go to the whole europe in 30 days :)
just have fun and after share your experiences !

Your plan looks pretty good but with perhaps too many stops. If you can reduce your list to 10 places, allowing 2 to 3 days in each place and travel by night train, I think you will have a better, and not too rushed, trip.

All the best,

my first interrail trip i did copenhagen, hamburg (a festival), berlin, warsaw, krakow, budapest, vienna, venice, rome, up thewest cost of italy stopping where looked nice (including pisa and genova, plus a day trip to monaco from genova), interlakken, geneva, paris and amsterdam. so i dont think your route looks too much. depends how long you want to spend in each place, in venice i stayed in a campsite one night got the shuttle to venice the next day and got the train to rome at midnight- so in total i was in the center of venice about 12 hours but it was enough i think.

I remember going on a route in Italy for a week... we started in Monaco and we visit Milan Florencia Roma Pisa Venecia Cremona and somewhere else i didnt even remember... yes we saw a lot of cities... but i can not remember very well where it was that place we had that nice pizza or where is that photograph taken from... it took me time to realise that i probably need to go again to visit some places because i just remember the canals of Venetto the tower of Pisa and some cathedral in Milan... I dont think it worth it... from that trip to Italy i decided i want to spend more time to get known the places, the people, the culture and not have a great collection of pictures... that is only my opinion of course. Enjoy your jouney.
