Difference between 1st and 2nd class?

Hi and welcome to railcc!

Which trains do you want to travel with? In which countries do you want to travel?

In general, 1st class offers more space and more "comfort".
Usually, in 1st class you have three seats per row (2+1) while in 2nd class you have four seats (2+2).
There are a lot of specifics in each country so it would be good to know about your travel plans to give a more detailed answer whether 1st class pays off or not.
