Hi

I have 2 dogs to take to the ferry at Santander. I large Alsation and a smaller terrier. Do the Portuguese and Spanish trains allow dogs to travel?

Regarding travel on Spanish domestic trains, RENFE (Spanish train operator) says:

"On AVE and Larga Distancia

Transportation is permitted provided they do not oppose the other customers.

The traveler who takes office responsible for the inconvenience and damage that may result from animal.

They should go to the documentation and the sanitary conditions and security under the law. Transportation is limited to small pets, defined as dogs, cats, ferrets and birds (not poultry), having a weight not exceeding 10 kg.

Will be a maximum of one animal per passenger, provided in a cage or carrier element or other closed container, whose dimensions do not exceed 60 x 35 x 35 cm., And who have a device that help to contain and remove waste.

In sleeping accommodation is only possible transport departments / cabins complete (family mode).

Transportation is free when the traveler to take them to a ticket office has granted Preferred classes, Club, Preferred bed, chair bed Gran Clase and Great Comfort.

For all other classes set a price of 25% Economy Class seat according to the route and type of train involved."
