Visa issues on route through Belarus to Russia solved
Since autumn 2016 there have been reports about issues on the border between Belarus and Russia. Apparently the border has been closed for citizens outside of Belarus and Russia and it has been unclear whether this also affected passenger trains between the two countries.
Although there have been reports of travellers onboard the trains from Europe via Belarus to Russia that they experienced no problems there hasn't been any official confirmation that the border still is open for rail travellers.
Finally there has now been confirmation from the Russian Ministry of Transport that passenger trains are not affected from the new immigration restrictions and that passengers with valid visas for Belarus and Russia can still use the trains from Europe to Russia through Belarus without problems.
