is there a train that goes the opposite way?
(i'm trying to find a connection from venice to zagreb, but they all seem to take such a long time even though it's so close!)

Hello all!
I'm a first-time interrailer from the UK in the final stages of planning my trip this summer! Most of my questions have been answered through other forum posts (thank you!) but I have a couple of queries about this night train (EN 240).
I'm planning to take the train from Zagreb to Venezia Mestre and would like to know how far in advance I should book it to make sure myself and two friends will be able to get berths in a 6 bed couchette or seats (but the couchette would be better!). We will arrive in Zagreb on a Saturday night (too late for the offices at the station to be open, I guess) and want to take the night train on Monday night. Obviously this doesn't leave much time to reserve the seats/couchette at Zagreb station (and I'm not sure it would be possible on a Sunday), as well as the problem of language (my Croatian is non-existent!). Therefore I was wondering whether it would be possible to reserve this night train at another station in Europe a week or so in advance? We will be in Krakow, Prague, Bratislava and Vienna beforehand.
By the way, our trip is in August so I guess all the trains will be quite busy, hence why I'd like to book in advance to be sure! We're on quite a tight schedule and our hostels will be booked in advance so missing a night train would be a bit of a problem!

Thank you in advance!
:D

P.S. Could anyone give any advice about which stations out of those listed above are most likely to have staff who speak English or German?

We are with 14. 11 youngsters and 3 supervisors: one 27 year, one 20 year, one 21 year, six 16 year old, one 15 year old and four 14 year old.
Do you know the price for the whole group and where can i book those tickets?

Hi,

as we are a dedicated InterRail website I cant give you info about regular train fares. Check at the website of Croatian Railways HZ.
When travelling with InterRail you would need a reservation in addition to your IR ticket, the prices are listed above. But if you are only travelling this route, an InterRail pass wont be worth it.

Hi.

You have to ask for a ticket directly at a station somewhere in Europe (except the UK) or then in Croatia.
For fares check the website of the Croatian railway company.

Hi. Just quick question :)
When it says say 55E or 40E for the sleeping compartments, that means per person within that cabin doesn't it? So you're basically paying for your bed? If my friend and I wanted a 2-bed compartment we would have to pay 55E each?
Just deciding how far our money can stretch/how much we value our sleep for that night!

Thanks

Hi.
Exactly like you said. Price per person, not per cabin. In your case: 2 persons à 55 EUR each = Total: 110 EUR.
You can check the website of trenitalia.it - there you will find as well the fares.

Peter I tried booking the Zagreb Glavni Kolod 23:50 (1 July 2011) to Venezia Santa Lucia 7:16 (2 July 2011) EN440 on the [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux] website, but do not know which train type or product to enter. I want a 1st class sleeper single ticket. Can you assist?

Hi Cecilia.
This train isn't available to book online at [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux]
The only possibility to book this train is to do it via the website of the Italian national railway company, but then you have to pick up the ticket somewhere in Italy. I think it makes no sense for you this solution.
Other possibility is to buy the reservation at a station some days before you leave Zagreb. This might be as well in an other country.
Peter :)
