To travel by train from Porto in Portugal to Paris in France you will have to use a night train. Two tickets are required: one for the night train from Lisbon to Hendaye (France). And one for your travels from Hendaye to your destination in France. If you first have to go to Lisbon from another destination in Portugal, buy the ticket via CP.

1a Travelling from Porto (Portugal) to Lisbon (Portugal)

To travel from Porto to Lisbon by train you have frequent direct connections every day. Second class tickets are available from 9,50 Euro and first class tickets from 22,50 Euro. The journey time is about three hours and depends on your selected connection. There are Alfa Pendular (AP) trains which are a bit more expensive and the classic Intercidades (IC) trains you can chose in between.

1b Travelling from Lisbon (Portugal) to Hendaye (France)

To travel from Portugal to France by train, there are two main routes. It depends from where your destination is in France.

The first route is by direct night train from Lisbon to the Spanish-French border at Hendaye/Irun. There you change to a TGV train in direction of Bordeaux and Paris.
Buy your tickets in two steps: first from Lisbon to Hendaye or Irun via ACPRail (see booking links). Then a second ticket from Hendaye to your destination in France via Trainline or SNCF (see booking links).

The second route is from Lisbon by direct night train to Madrid. There you continue by high-speed-trains via Barcelona in direction of France (Marseille, ...).

Buy your tickets in two steps: first from Lisbon to Madrid for the night train via ACPRail (see booking links). Then a second ticket from Madrid via Barcelona to your destination in France (see booking links).

2b Travelling from Lisbon (Portugal) to Madrid (Spain)

To travel by train from Lisbon to Madrid, make use of the direct "Lusitania" night train. It is the most comfortable way to travel. Tickets are available online from EUR 25. The journey time is about 10 hours. Tickets are available at the given booking links.

2c Travelling from Madrid (Spain) to Barcelona (Spain)

To travel from Madrid to Barcelona by train, you will use an AVE high-speed-train of RENFE. The journey time is only 2,5 hours for the distance of 620 kilometres. Second class tickets are available from 40 EUR and first class tickets from 55 EUR. There are frequent connections available, at least every hour. The departure station in Madrid is called "Madrid Atocha". The arrival station in Barcelona is called "Barcelona Sants".

2d Travelling from Barcelona (Spain) to Paris (France)

The fastest option to travel from Barcelona to Paris is by direct TGV high-speed-train. There are two direct trains with a journey time of about 6,5 hours. Train ticket fares start from 49 EUR. You find the exact schedule and saver-fares via our booking links. We recommend you to book early as otherwise the ticket prices are high.

The direct night train does not exist anymore. To travel overnight, travel first by "Rodalies Barcelona" from Barcelona Sants to Latour de Carol ("La Tor de Querol"). It is train line number 3. The ticket price is 12 EUR. Buy this ticket at a ticket machine. It is a very scenic journey of about three hours, in the middle of the Pyrenees. There you change to the night train from Latour de Carol to Paris. This ticket is available via our booking links.
